HELLO, I'M TARYN

Using a collaborative, person-centered process, I help clients feel safe, comfortable, and confident.

I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor, based in Victoria, BC. I provide counselling via the phone, secure video and in person (mask required).

I specialize in chronic health issues, disabilities, 2SLGBTQ2IA+ issues, have lived experience in these areas and identify as a queer woman. I also have expertise in addictions, depression, anxiety and interpersonal issues. I provide both individual and couples counselling for my clients, as needed. I have completed Level One of the Gottman Method of Couples Counselling and am working on Level Two. I believe that my clients are the experts of their own lives. Utilizing a person-centered approach, I collaborate with each client to select the therapeutic tools that will work best. I use a variety of methods including mindfulness, CBT, DBT, body-oriented therapy, narrative therapy, guided visualizations for relaxation and assisting clients in developing internal resources.?

I have supported individuals with disabilities for over fifteen years. As a person living with epilepsy, I can empathize with the challenges of living with a disability and a chronic health condition. Through counselling, I can empower individuals with disabilities or chronic health issues, change their perspective, help them accept their reality, and ultimately to live their best life possible.

As a former respite worker and education assistant, I have gained an understanding of the challenges that caregivers face. I am prepared to listen and provide a safe space for caregivers to share their struggles and their dreams.

When I am not counselling, I enjoy being outside in nature and spending time with family and friends.
